Shotokan Karate Dojo

This page provides a list of Instructors that teach at the Shobukan Dojo in Killeen, Texas. The Shotokan Karate Dojo is a member of the USA-NKF and the International Shobukan Karate Association. The International Shobukan Karate Association is a non-profit organization and is headed by Chief Instructor, Kohama Sensei. Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the art of Karate and other martial arts and have attained a certain level of expertise to qualify them as teachers and also mentors.

Through extensive testing, certification and tournament level competition, our staff has attained mastery in this martial art and now enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students.

M. Kohama Sensei  (Chief Instructor - Shobukan Japan)
Kohama Sensei, Chief Instructor of Shobukan Shotokan Organization resides in Japan. Has extensive training and teaching experience in the Martial Arts. A Tested and certified black belt by the JKA. Travels to the US and other countries to conduct seminars.

Kohama Sensei visited the USA in 1998, 2002, 2004 and 2005. During his visits he conducted seminars, testing and was the guest of honor for our Annual Karate Tournaments. The 1st Shobukan Cup was held in 1998, The 2nd Friendship Invitational Traditional Karate Tournament was held in August 2002, The 3rd Shobukan Cup was held in Japan. Recently we hosted the 4th Shobukan Cup Friendship Karate Tournament. During this time a Seminar was conducted by Kohama Sensei.

Mr.Da Costa has been practicing Shotokan Karate for over 20 years. Tested and certified in Japan by the Shobukan Organization by Kohama Sensei, is nidan in Kendo tested and certified by All United States Kendo Federation (AUSKF) in 2003, is an active member of the Austin Kendo Doshikai Dojo. Tested in Japan for Shodan in Iaido in 1998, tested in the US for Nidan in Iaido in 2004.

Lived and trained in Japan with Shotokan Shobukan Organization. Regularly visits Japan for Karate and Iaido training. He is the USA and PanAmerican representative of Shobukan Organization
